Confirmation Guidelines

Confirmation will be available to all Catholics who are in the 11th grade and have received the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, and Holy Eucharist.  The Archdiocese of Mobile suggests that each Candidate for Confirmation receive at least 2 years of sacramental preparation before obtaining the sacrament.  Please bring your original Certificate of Baptism to the office so we can make a copy here.

Requirements for confirmation are as follows

All Candidates
  1. Go to Mass EVERY Sunday and Holy days of obligation
  2. Partake in frequent confession
  3. Will be required to undergo an interview by the Pastor before confirmation
  4. Must have the necessary sacramental records
There may be small differences in the program depending on how much catechism you receive at school.  Therefore for:

Those who attend Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School

If you have attended MCPS for at least 2 years, you have fulfilled the necessary Catechetical requirements for confirmation.

Those who attend another private or a public school

Since these candidates will not be receiving daily catechism in the Catholic faith at school, we require that these students have 100% participation the in Youth Group

Those who attend Home school
If your home school program has a Catholic Religious component then you have fulfilled the catechetical requirement

If your home school program does NOT have a Catholic Religious component you must have 100% participation in Youth Group

* Sacramental records can be obtained at the church the child was baptized
